Kelsey Atwood has been teaching First Grade at St. Michael's since 2020. She attended St. Mary's College of Maryland where she earned a bachelor's degree in Arts Integration in Education. 1st Grade at a Glance:
In Math students will learn how to tell time, count money, add , subtract, and talk about patterns and shapes. In Reading students will identify story elements and features, respond to questions and confirm and make predictions. In Religion students will learn that Jesus is our friend, the goodness of creation, the relationship between God and the Holy Family, what Baptism is and lots of Prayers. In Phonics students will identify letters, words and sentences, distinguish between beginning, middle and end sounds, and effectively write sentences. In Science they will make observations, use science tools, describe and compare the basic needs of living organisms and have fun with experiments. Lastly, in Socail Studies students will compare past and present, look at maps and globes, learn about citizenship and civi responsibliy along with the environment and seasons.
